About LionChess.school
Discover why parents trust us to develop their young players
Built on the belief that chess teaches life
LionChess.school started because we saw something missing in Chicago. Kids were playing chess in clubs and online, moving pieces without understanding them. Parents wanted more than that—they wanted their children to think deeper, to learn patience, to build real confidence through real competition. We built this school to do exactly that. In-person instruction means a coach watches your child think, catches the moment they're about to blunder, and teaches them why it matters. Small groups mean every student gets seen. Long-term enrollment means we know each player's journey, not just their rating. That's the difference between a club and a school. That's what we do here.
We started because chess was being taught wrong
Eight years ago, we watched kids move pieces without thinking. They played online, memorized openings, never learned why the moves mattered. Parents wanted something deeper. We built it.
A coach sees what a screen never will
In-person instruction means we watch your child think. We catch the blunder before it happens. We teach why it matters. That's the difference between a club and a school.
Long-term growth happens in small groups
Fourteen students per class means every player is known. We track their journey, not just their rating. We celebrate their wins. We know them.
